11. Internet addressing.
Internet e-mail addresses are of the following form:
someone@site
where someone is the user to whom the mail is being sent, and site is the name of their internet provider. From the site name, you can get some idea as to the location of that person. The ending of the name denotes the designation of that provider:
.ac.uk - United Kingdom Educational Institutions .co.uk - Companies in the UK .edu - Americal Educational Establishments. .com - Companies. .fi - Finland. .se - Sweden .de - Germany
Of course, there are many more, but these are the main ones. The location is usually fairly obvious.
BIX addresses can be accessed by using the form:
someone@bix.com
CIX addresses are accessed by:
someone@cix.compulink.co.uk
And bitnet addresses can be accessed by:
someone@host.bitnet
